Constructed from 100% household junk! I got the basic design from this lovely tutorial [link] but took my own path for most of it.

I used vitamin bottle caps instead of mason jar lids for the rims, the lenses are made out of some thin green plastic sheeting my Dad gave me years ago, the strap and side guards are made of faux leather (the side guards are reinforced with cardboard), the "sheepskin" is minky (it makes them really comfy), the rings on the side were stolen from an old purse, the buckle in the back is two links from an old chandelier chain, the "rivets" are Bedazzler studs with the prongs folded under, and the nosepiece/decorative-thing-around-the-lenses is copper wire.

I love these things so much I refuse to take them off! I even wore them to school!

Used as part of my aviator costume here: [link]

These are absolutely fantastic! I've been browsing the web trying to get inspiration for a set of goggles I'm working on and these sure helped get my gears going. But I've been thinking; I really like the look of the fur lining on the eyepieces (not to mention they look deucedly comfortable) but does it interfere with your vision at all? I'd be so worried that I'd constantly have fuzz in my eyes when I wore them.

Thanks so much!
The fuzz isn't bad, although I think I trimmed it a little when I made them because I was worried about the same thing. The most restrictive part vision-wise is due to their forward facing nature. But even so, they are perfectly wearable and make pretty great sunglasses :D

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I never really considered trimming the stuff if it ends up getting too much in the way. It makes so much sense.

Now that is a REALLY cool idea! the look completely legit; the cannibalized purse makes for fantastic goggles!
